Evaluation

College Magazine Evaluation

Initially, one of my aims was to represent young, student social groups of both genders, attending college or university; in the age range of 17-24. I achieved this by applying the codes and conventions on the cover and contents page. I also made the model attempt to connect to this audience by age, fashion, style and emotion so it makes them feel more involved and want the magazine. I did this by using a regular, simple font to make it easier to read and understand by everyone of different intellectual abilities, attracting a broader range of readers.

Additionally, the colour scheme consists of green and brown throughout the magazine to create a house style. This makes it more sophisticated and professional to the readers - possibly attracting more intellegent readers or a secondary audience such as design students. Green and brown also represent nature and youth; it is mostly noticed by younger females as these colours are applied for most natural beauty products. They are also uni-sex colours so it will appeal to both a female and male audience.

Additionally, a media institution that might distribute my media product are any education industries such as colleges, universities or schools because the articles are aimed to be of interest to students. It also offers input into the magazine from students so it helps them gain experience in writing and media. Reprezent is a radio station located in London for young people; teenagers usually send in requests to advertise their talents, so that’s also a possibility for distribution of my magazine.
